Parents,

I am very concerned about some of the students not turning in the work in a timely manner. Mrs. Janosik and I have been very generous in accepting late work and giving full credit even for late assignments.

Starting with the new 9 weeks, I changed my policy for late or missing classwork and homework.

If the student does not have an excused absence, he/she will have until the end of the week that the work was due to get the work in. All work is due on Friday unless I have made an exception because of unforseen events where the students did not have time to do the work in a timely manner. The child may need to miss out on recess because of missing work or need to take it home to finish it.



If the child has an excused absence, they will have the number of days they missed to make up the work without penalty.

Part of your child's responsibility is to budget their time wisely and to be responsible for taking work home to finish if they do

Parents,
Our students will be testing Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  They will be taking Reading tests on Monday and Tuesday mornings and Math on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.  I want to remind you of the important part that you play in the success of your child on these important tests.  First of all the kids are READY, they have been well prepared and you should feel confident in their success.  I want them to be built up in their confidence and you can help with this important aspect.  Give the kids a break this weekend, something special to take their mind off the test.  Show them that you have as much confidence in their abilities as I do:)

Next week students will not have any specials and will eat lunch in their classroom.  Please make sure they have a healthy lunch and feel free to send snacks.  I would also like to request movies and a DVD player in order to give them a break after the test each day.  Students will also have NO homework next week in any class.

Finally, make sure that your child is present each day and that they are on time.  Late students will not be allowed to disturb the class and I don't want them to have to take the makeup test.  Also make sure they go to bed extra early each night and eat a healthy breakfast each morning.  McDonalds offers a free breakfast for students on each morning of FCAT.

FCAT is coming!!

Welcome back from Spring Break.  Just a couple of things I want to make you aware of for this week.  We will not have Spelling words or Composition Notebook for the next two weeks.  This week we will review the practice tests that we took over the last few weeks. 

Another item that will change is late assignment policy.  All students will be expected to have all completed work by Friday of the assigned week.  Late assignments will no longer be accepted.  If a student is absent and they have an excuse, then they will have the number of excused days to complete missed work.  Unexcused absences will be due by Friday, unless special circumstances are applicable.  This change is a new fourth grade policy.  Unfortunately, we are having an issue with students waiting until the last minute to turn in work.  This defeats the purpose of the assignment.

The week of April 11 is FCAT week.  Please make sure your child is at school each day before 8:00 a.m.  Also Wednesday, April 13 is NOT a short day students will be released at 2:15.
